Next practice these Spring Kids Yoga Poses. I love this yoga sequence as it helps show the transformation that is happening all around us.
Caterpillar to Butterfly Yoga Sequence
- Begin in Cobra Pose. Pretend to be a hungry caterpillar, lifting your head to munch on a leaf as you raise in Cobra Pose.

- Move into Plank Pose. This is the caterpillar on a branch, getting ready to form a cocoon.
- Lower into child’s pose and become a safe little cocoon. Be still. Breathe deeply and get ready for an exciting change to happen!
- Finally become butterflies! Practice Butterfly Pose and flutter your wings. Talk with the children about what color of wings their butterflies have and where they would fly to. How fast or slow can they flap their wings?
Egg to Tadpole to Frog Yoga Sequence
- Begin in child’s pose as that represents the tiny egg.
- Slowly inch onto your stomach and “swim” while moving your arms and leg up and down to be the tadpole.
- Then take Frog Pose (Malasana), with your feet on the floor and your legs in a deep squat. See if you can try out your new frog legs with frog hops on your mat.
Seed to Flower Yoga Sequence
- Begin in Child’s Pose and pretend to be a tiny seed in the ground.
![spring yoga pose](http://www.gogoyogakids.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Flower-Kate.jpg)
- Lift one arm as you imagine a tiny stem beginning to poke through the Earth.
- Sit up straight and tall inn Lotus (flower) Pose with your legs crossed. Raise your arms up into a flower shape toward the sun. Can you sway in the breeze?
Have fun with these spring yoga kid ideas. See if your children can come up with any other changes that happen in the spring such as weather, animals or plants. The possibilities are endless and putting these springtime changes into yoga postures makes them all the more memorable.

It is time to celebrate our freedom! Try some of these fun yoga poses with your kids
to help recognize our freedom while having fun making your bodies healthier and stronger together.
Eagle Pose:
There is no other symbol of our freedom than that of the American Eagle! Try Eagle Pose with your kids. It is wonderful for balance, core strength and detoxing as you hold this twisty tricky pose.
Make Some Fireworks:
There is so much creativity involved with this! How can you or a partner(s) make the best firework display you can? This reminds me of
growing up and creating cheerleading stunts with my friends. Get creative and take on the challenge. It can be wonderful for utilizing all sorts of muscles in your body.
Hot Dog:
Roll your child up in a blanket or yoga mats. I guarantee that they will remember this! Of course, they will need to get their giggles out first. There is something about that snug and secure feeling that will remind them of being swaddled when they were babies. After relaxing for a moment, let them wrap you up!

If you are already teaching kids yoga or even if you are just beginning to learn some yoga poses, you have probably already experienced, read or heard about the benefits of yoga for all ages. Why wouldn’t you want to introduce it those you care about most? Your family and loved ones need to know about this!
I love how yoga actually lets you connect with your child and is something you can actually do with them as opposed to being a spectator to such as soccer games, dance recitals, piano recitals, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love cheering my kids on at any of their sporting events or competitions, but the memories are made when you actually do something with them.
It doesn’t need to be a big orchestrated event, just get down on the floor and be engaged. They will love it!
Easy Ways to do Yoga At Home With Your Kids![tree pose in yoga](http://www.gogoyogakids.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/yoga-family-2-e1465128074254-300x215.jpg)
- Make it a Routine: Doing some yoga poses together does not need to take long. Incorporate some little ways to use yoga at the same time every day. It could be first thing in the morning or by doing some bedtime calming stretches each night. These are good places to start!
- Use Props: Grab some beach towels or yoga mats to lay out and sit on. Kids love having their own space and this will give them boundaries and a sense of ownership. Include your child’s favorite stuffed animal and have it participate along with you.
- Pick a Card: I love these Yoga Pose Cards and they are great for providing a visual. Let them pick 3-5 yoga pose cards at a time to learn, practice and have fun with. Make sure that you participate as well and gain all of the benefits too.
Teaching kids yoga at home doesn’t need to take long. Just have fun with yoga together and make it a part of your life. There is no right or wrong way, but the simple fact that you are together, learning and moving will create lasting memories with your children!
